RELAX, NZ NOT FOR SALE

(New Zealand Press Association Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Sydney, May 12 NZPA - Online auction house eBay has decided New Zealand can't be sold.

An Australian man tried to auction New Zealand off on the site this week, with a snide one cent the first bid.

The man, believed to be based in Queensland, advertised his product by saying it had the ``dodgiest America's Cup win ever...and very ordinary weather''.

God's Own was only worth $A3000 when eBay Australia intervened after 22 bids and removed the item from offer.

``Clearly New Zealand is not for sale,'' eBay Australia spokesman Daniel Feiler told NZPA.

``It is mostly household items we have for sale, but there are the occasional quirky items put up.

``We have a look at them and if they are OK we leave them, but if it is something that can't be sold, we take them off.''

Virtualization has taken the IT world by storm but to date the comms market has been mostly unaffected – relying instead on proprietary appliances for numerous functions. A recent industry push to establish network standards virtualization will potentially shake-up the telecommunications market even more than the move to IP communications. As network hardware begins to be released as software, carriers are expected to save money and benefit greatly from new levels of flexibility related to hosting their network in private and virtual private clouds.
