Radisys Releases Two SDN-Enabled FlowEngine Platforms

By Rory Lidstone February 25, 2016

Radisys Corporation this week introduced not one, but two new traffic distribution platforms to its FlowEngine product portfolio. Much like the previously announced TDE-1000, these new platforms, dubbed the TDE-200 and TDE-500, run Radisys’ FlowEngine software, which incorporates switching, load balancing and routing functionality under open SDN policy control.

The TDE-200 is the portfolio’s entry level offering. As such, it is the most cost-effective, while still offering intelligent front end traffic distribution that regulates traffic flows with very high throughput and low latency.

The TDE-500, meanwhile, offers maximum SDN and NFV deployment flexibility for distributed edge sites or core data center networks. It also supports the option to fuse together on-board SDN controller technology and value-added virtualized network services like network analytics.

All solutions in the Radisys FlowEngine portfolio deliver up to 1.2 Tbps of traffic distribution performance at a fraction of the cost of comparable competing solutions. With FlowEngine, service providers can roll out new services at scale to support millions of concurrent subscribers and flows.

Earlier in February, mobility solutions provider Mahindra Comviva integrated Radisys MediaEngine products with its own value-added suite of products. This integration enables Mahindra Comviva to deliver a complete solution to mobile operators that includes integration and support services for cloud-based VoLTE, VoWiFi and WebRTC.

“Radisys’ expertise in integrating software and hardware technologies to deliver the right solution to our customers is what sets us apart from the competition,” said Bryan Sadowski, vice president for FlowEngine Product Marketing at Radisys. “The addition of the TDE-500 and TDE-200 to our FlowEngine portfolio, along with our world-class Professional Services capabilities, provides our customers with a robust SDN-enabled platform combined with unmatched industry expertise to accelerate their SDN and NFV deployments.”

The Radisys TDE platforms facilitate a flexible dev-ops model for service-driven environments. The logical separation of control and data plane services helps unlock closed, legacy network architectures. With the help of FlowEngine software, the latest TDE platforms offer maximum flexibility and choice to address the diverse requirements of their SDN and NFV deployments.
