AirHop Communications' New eSON360 Bolsters Network Performance

The 4G network is one of the biggest advances in telecommunications and one that will likely stand until the 5G network starts rolling out. AirHop Communications has a little something in mind that should help keep the 4G network in fighting trim until 5G can start rolling out: the eSON360 system.

AirHop's eSON360 is a new breed of self-organizing network (SON) system that not only makes it easier to put a new network in place, but also makes it easier to get the most out of that network with automated network optimization. It also offers network visualization to get a better handle on problems that may emerge—potentially even some that haven't manifested as network issues outright—and analytics tools to help keep track of the network's overall functionality.

This makes the eSON360 a particularly powerful package for mobile network operators (MNOs) who need to keep the network at its best to help ensure current customers stay in the fold, and new customers have a reason to come on board and become current customers eventually. Since eSON360 is a scalable operation, and cloud-based, it's got a lot of flexibility that allows it to grow as the network itself does. Expansion efforts, therefore, become easier to manage and keep at their best, a development that helps ensure the customer is happy with his or her experience.

AirHop's co-founder, Yan Hui, noted a host of benefits available with eSON360 as seen by other firms putting it to use, including 70 percent greater network throughput and 25 percent less cell loading. With eSON360, Hui notes, new cell installation can be as simple as Wi-Fi deployment, at least in terms of initial planning and setup.

That means a litany of reasons why network providers should be looking more closely at eSON360. With reduced costs—easier setup requires fewer manhours and fewer resources, making it more cost-effective and a faster payback time—and a potentially greater profit to be derived thanks to lower costs, there's every reason to put eSON360 to work. The benefits don't stop after installation, either; improving the customer experience reduces the chance of customer churn, which means a more stable revenue stream, and potentially an expanded one. Everyone needs more bandwidth these days, so when a company can provide a terrific experience on its network, it's likely customers will tell others about that great experience.

While eSON360 may not fix every problem a network can experience, it's likely to fix many of these, and in turn provide better experiences and bolstered profitability for the network operator. The increasing complexity of networks and ever-rising demand means that the best network will likely come out ahead, and the best network could be just an installation of eSON360 away.
