NetCitadel Announces New Software-defined Solution for Centralizing Security Intelligence

Specializing in Security Orchestration, NetCitadel, Inc., today announced the release of its OneControl Security Orchestration Platform (SOP). OneControl is reported to make current security infrastructure more dynamic and sophisticated, enabling accurate policy changes across a variety of digital environments quickly.

Principal analyst for Gartner, Neil MacDonald, explained in a recent report that security policies are being required to shift from hardware attributes to contextual attributes, such as virtual machines and applications. He goes on to write that a common misconception about this shift to software-orientated security is that security controls make a similar move to software. The main goal of security, however, is to ensure that proper security controls automatically stay in place, irrespective of platform shifts, and without requiring restructuring.

OneControl SOP is a virtual appliance, which automatically administers security intelligence by mapping cloud, virtual or physical environment contexts to a variety of infrastructures and devices. It separates the control plane from what is known as Policy Enforcement Points (PEP), and transforms current security infrastructure into more context-aware and adaptable environments. Through consistent policies and heterogeneous environments, this awareness of context provides workload intelligence from such other products as VMware, vCenter and Amazon AWS to security infrastructure products such as Cisco ASA and Juniper SRX.

Ken Dobbins, service manager for Kenettek, explains how OneControl allows him to integrate his virtualization environment with his the security devices, replacing what was previously a slow and manual traditional process with an automated solution. OneControl also gives him the ability to react to user changes within minutes, without compromising security.

NetCitadel OneControl is rolled out as a virtual appliance, supporting modular options such as Virtual Security Module and Cloud Security Module, both sold as add-ons. The OneControl Security Orchestration Platform provides both a policy management structure and security device integration that simplifies traditional security policy management. Additional optional modules are currently available and more are expected later in 2013.
